Students, staff, and faculty members joined #PinkThursday and wore something pink.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, students were encouraged to take care of themselves as they heard the story of a breast cancer survivor, \u201cIt happened a year ago, I think about it and I get very emotional because being diagnosed with breast cancer was a shocking moment for me. I was very overwhelmed,\u201d said Barbara Cervoni, Director of Services and Communication at an organization called Support Connection.&nbsp; \u201cI was proactive, and that\u2019s the most important message I have for you today. Take care of your own body, talk to your doctor, ask questions, and know your family history,\u201d added Barbara.<\/p>\n<p>Students were moved and inspired by Barbara\u2019s story and asked her several questions. All the funds raised during the Breast Cancer Awareness event will go to Support Connection, Inc.&nbsp; This not-for-profit organization provides emotional, social, and educational support to women, their families and friends affected by breast and ovarian cancer.
