Though MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) were originally intended for college-level work that would be available to anyone, college admissions teams are noting more and more prospective students are taking these courses.
For some students, these courses satisfy an interest in a topic not offered by their high school, whereas others take the courses in hopes it will increase their chances of getting into the elite colleges of their choice.
