What a wonderful way to kick off the new year.  In my job as president of the college, I am often in my office, engaged in the running of the college, decision making, day to day operations and strategic planning.  To be able to connect more deeply with our wonderful students and fabulous faculty, I decided that I should get into the classrooms, not to critique, but to observe, get to know our students and maybe even to participate and learn a few things!

The first class I joined was  Professor Susan Rucano’s Composition II class in the adult division last Thursday.  We discussed sentence syntax and an in depth study of satirical writing.  Students discussed their upcoming topic choices for a persuasive research paper, and showed their passion for their subjects. The students were engaged, the professor engaging, and the time just flew!  Thanks to our wonderful students and faculty for allowing me to participate.  I look forward to enjoying getting to know more students and watching our wonderful faculty in action.
