Myths About Online Education

A new report by The Learning House, Inc. and Aslanian Market Research, Online College Students 2016: Comprehensive Data on Demands and Preferences, highlights some of the ways that online education has made college more accessible to more students. Time restraints and financial issues are some of the main factors cited in reasons for not taking college courses, but when colleges offer online options, students are more likely to enroll.

In fact, the majority of the students in the study shared that without those online options, they “would not,” “probably would not,” or were “unsure” if they would have pursued higher education. The report also explored what students were looking to get out of their online education. Alternative learning paths and reputation were also shown to be important parts of the decision-making factor.
