The benefits of a Part-Time Job

Taking on a part-time job while pursuing a degree is hard work, but the benefits are typically more than just a paycheck. “Working part-time gives students the opportunity to explore different areas of interest and hopefully put a foot into the door of new opportunities that will be of benefit to their careers,” said Bayleigh Jones, Executive Human Resources at Target, during the Part-Time Job Fair at CW.

Students who work during their college careers may acquire better time-management skills than their counterparts, network with professionals in the industry, and secure solid references for their resume. “Part-Time jobs help students pursue their dreams. They’re not ready for a full-time but it’s a perfect transition from college to work full-time,” said Maxine Levy, a rep at Pottery Barn Kids, also attending the Par-Time Job Fair. Other companies attending included P&K Research, Lord & Taylor, The Gap, and the Westchester County Center.
